"Curillo · Isabel Ordoñez · Anaerobic Washed · Bourbon Naranja · El Guayabo, Colón, Nariño
Isabel Ordoñez grows this coffee at 2,040 metres on a plot her father gave her before she left for university. The trees are three years old, the income helps pay for her degree in Electronic and Telecommunications Engineering, and the lot scored 88.64 points.
She is the fourth generation of her family in coffee in Colón, Nariño, and learned the work at her father's side, from seedbed to harvest. On her plot at El Guayabo she planted Bourbon Naranja. Whenever she comes home from the Universidad del Cauca, she runs the harvest and processing herself. The lot, a 50 kilo microlot, is named Curillo.
The cherries were picked at peak ripeness and fermented anaerobically in tanks for 48 hours, followed by a 24 hour oxidation stage, before drying in a solar tunnel.
The cup is dark and fruity: cherry, plum and guava with a soft, yogurt like tang, over chocolate and pecan."
