Yaseen Kulaib intends to become one of the major farmers of his area. He currently has about three hundred trees. The gap between those two facts is what makes him interesting, because he is entirely serious about closing it.

He has been farming for twenty years, having learned it standing next to his father among the trees, and his father remains both the person he is closest to and the standard he measures himself against. There are nine people in the family and effectively all of them are in the coffee.

Bait Alal is a valley of small holdings and there is not much unplanted ground left in it, so growth here does not come from buying more land. It comes from rebuilding terraces that have fallen in, planting more tightly where the soil allows, and pushing quality rather than volume. Pests take their share regardless. He is direct about why he bothers: specialty coffee pays a farmer better than the commercial market does, and he would like the coffee known.

This lot was processed with Alchemy XV, the second protocol in the series, introduced in 2022. It takes the carbonic maceration of XI and layers a dedicated anaerobic fermentation on top of it, a second and quite different biochemical environment, which keeps the brightness of the original protocol while building a deeper base underneath it.
