Miguel Castillo - Typica
Panama - 1908

Miguel Castillo cultivates coffee at Finca Panamá in
Malacatos, Loja, on land historically associated with cascarilla
trade routes in southern Ecuador. At 1,650 masl, around 2.5
hectares produce under shade from guabo, citrus, and native wilco
trees that support soil stability in a warmer valley climate.
Irrigation by sprinkler during extended dry periods maintains
younger Typica trees through irregular rainfall. This lot follows a
Washed process, with cherries fermented after harvesting before
being transported for drying — a logistical adaptation to the
farm's current infrastructure. Jasmine, yellow peach, and brown
sugar: Typica in Malacatos expressing its heritage cleanly through
a process that keeps the focus on variety and place.
