Juan Eguigerion - Sidra
La Esperanza - 2139
28
Juan Eguiguren returned to coffee cultivation in Vilcabamba,
Loja, after a professional career outside agriculture —
choosing to re-engage with his family's long-standing connection to
coffee through production rather than trade. At La Esperanza, at
1,700 masl, former pastureland has been gradually converted into
planted coffee, with focus on establishing healthy root systems and
balanced canopy development before expanding volume.
He has approached the farm as a long-term build: stabilising field
management through pruning, soil conditioning, and controlled shade
in Vilcabamba's seasonally defined climate. This Sidra Bourbon lot
was processed as a Natural, with careful cherry selection and
monitored drying for uniformity. Orange blossom, apricot, and
toffee — a profile that speaks of patience as much as
variety.
