Luis Carpio Iniguez - Geisha
Aurum - 9606
18
Luis Carpio Iniguez established Aurum in Masanamaca, Loja, after
converting former livestock land into planted coffee at 1,660 masl
— a transition that required rebuilding soil structure from
the ground up. Increasingly heavy seasonal rainfall in the region
has shaped how the farm is laid out and how trees are
maintained.
Rather than scaling quickly, Luis has built the farm as a
long-term project, stabilising post-harvest routines before
expanding. This Geisha lot was processed as a Natural, with
selective harvesting followed by controlled drying using protocols
adapted from regional quality competitions. A trained local team
handles harvesting, and ongoing infrastructure investments are
focused on expanding fermentation capacity. Jasmine, mandarin, and
nectarine: Geisha processed naturally at mid-altitude Masanamaca,
the variety's aromatic character preserved through careful drying
rather than suppressed by it.
