C.V.M Bernie Uhe - Geisha Washed
El Dorado - 3132
9
Bernie Uhe is 69 years old and has been producing coffee for approximately 10 years across multiple farms in southern Ecuador — a first-generation producer who built his operation from scratch in Loja province. His project spans three sites: La Noria in Villonaco at 2,000 to 2,260 masl; El Dorado in Olmedo at 1,700 to 1,900 masl; and Finca Eliza, also in Olmedo, at 1,650 to 1,750 masl. Varieties across the farms include Green Tip Geisha, SL28, Wush Wush, and Bourbon.
Managing coffee at altitude means managing cold and humidity
throughout most of the year. Average yields sit around 100 kilos of
dry coffee per hectare, a figure that reflects a
quality-over-volume approach. He entered the Qima platform
specifically to reach international buyers who understand the
technical work behind high-altitude lots.
This Geisha comes from El Dorado at 1,900 masl — Washed,
with selective harvesting and on-farm drying adapted to the site's
cooler, wetter conditions. Five lots from Bernie's farms appear in
this competition, each one a site-specific argument for the
diversity within a single producer's operation. This lot scored
88.27.
